Let There Be Light

When I first visited Japan many years ago, you didn't see many snow monkey images, but over the years this has increased considerably. That was one of the main reasons for me to experiment with off-camera flash to create a truly unique series of photographs of these animals that no one had ever seen before. For this image I used a radio-controlled remote to trigger my flash, and I adjusted my settings so that the flash would be the only light source.

A  series of images of snow monkeys where I used this lighting technique, won me the title Nature Photographer of the Year at the International Photography Awards (IPA) in the US.
