There have been tiger cubs born in Tiger Canyon end of June 2023 and we’ll be spending a full week with them! We have invited our top-tier Squiverati to join us on this tour. THE SILENT HUNTER
Tigers in Africa? Yes. The tiger is highly endangered, and Asia is struggling to keep the numbers from dropping even further. Bad for the tiger, and bad for photography – tiger safaris in India can be pretty frustrating. On this tour we will take you to a revolutionary tiger sanctuary where tigers roam free in stunning scenery. You are virtually guaranteed to see tigers on every drive, and you can photograph their natural behavior in various surroundings; hunting, playing, relaxing, and even swimming.

DESCRIPTION
This tour offers you unique opportunities to photograph tigers in the best photographic conditions possible. We travel in a very small group and use private vehicles where you have your own row of seats.

January in Tiger Canyon will be interesting. It’s officially rainy season, which means we are likely to have dramatic skies when we are there. During the day, the highs are around 30C/86F and the lows around 15C/59F. If it rains, it can make our shots interesting but it may also make it harder in terms of driving through the terrain if there is a lot of rain in a short period of time. Just laying all the cards on the table.

In January, there will also be 7 cheetah on the premises: there will be three 10-month old cubs which have been hand-raised (bring your wide angle!), and Mara has three cubs which will be 18 months by then. So we’ll definitely also be doing cheetah on foot, as both moms and both litters are very relaxed around people.

7 January 2024: 7 nights all inclusive Tiger Canyon

This tour includes a return ticket Johannesburg – Bloemfontein on Airlink, with everyone having 2 seats, so your camera bags can fit under the seat in front of you (sideways). And obviously return transfers by car from Bloemfontein to Tiger Canyon, with lunch on the way to Tiger Canyon on the 9th of January.

This means that you can fly home on the 14th of January in the early evening (after 18h00).

It will be great to spend a full week in Tiger Canyon with our main objective of photographing three super cute 6,5-months old cubs, with a white mom and a dark colored father!!! This is the perfect age as they will be more playful and adventurous than the first 3-4 months. Confident little fluffies!

ACCOMMODATION
In Johannesburg we stay at an airport hotel. At the tiger sanctuary we stay in a luxury lodge located within the tiger reserve.
